| Dual Mode Light

Blister packs have always been a lighting challenge. One customer approached
Illumination Technologies with an especially odd shaped pack. The goal was to
inspect the packs before and after they were sealed to verify integrity of the contents and of the sealing edge. The two-mode inspection required a two mode light source. A low angle incident light was effective in illuminating the packs before sealing. A combination of low angle and coaxial light was necessary to
inspect the sealed edge. Typical coaxial lights use a beamsplitter to fold light onto the target. This is an effective but inefficient technique. Illumination Technologies developed a coaxial source with no beamsplitter that provided the intensity required for the inspection. The device above has two independent
channels, one high angle, and one low angle, that are controlled with the included power supply.
